The agenda is based on the Commission's Transition Pathway for Tourism and contains an action plan with activities of EU countries, the Commission, and the private sector. The Agenda for Tourism covers five priority areas: green transition, digital transition, resilience, and inclusion, skills and support, and enabling policy framework and governance. Within each priority, several actions are defined, such as diversifying tourism services across seasons and locations, reducing the environmental footprint and supporting tourism accessibility.
Another key objective of the agenda is to meet the skills demand of the tourism ecosystem by implementing the Skills Pact, a shared engagement model for skills development. The tourism sector is the first sector for which the EU transition pathways document was developed. Transition scenarios for European tourism were drawn up in a large-scale co-creation process with stakeholders. The Transition Pathway identifies 27 areas for the green and digital transition and to improve the resilience of EU tourism. This requires, among other things, more circular and environmentally friendly services in tourism, enhanced data-sharing for more innovative services and improved service availability.
Representatives of the public and private sectors in the member states are invited to co-implement transition pathways. The European Commission has published a survey where every institution, enterprise, and organisation can report the commitments they have taken or are taking to support the green and digital transition towards sustainable tourism. Also, in the survey, you can express your organisation's interest in participating in working groups to support and follow the green, digital and resilience aspects of co-implementation of the Transition Pathway.
