24.04.2008

In a meeting this afternoon with Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts, the Kosovan Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj and Minister of Public Administration Arsim Bajrami expressed their interest towards the development of information society in Estonia. Minister Parts promised to help Kosovo in creating their own E-government.

"I am glad to see the great interest displayed by Kosovo in our experiences in building up the E-government and information society. I encourage Kosovo to be committed to developing the E-government and we will offer any assistance that may be needed in this process”, Minister Parts said.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the Estonian E-state and find ways to use our knowledge and skills for developing the public sector in Kosovo. According to the Kosovan Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj Kosovo wishes to draw onEstonia’s experience and create its own E-government.

Estonia started sharing its experience concerning the E-government already last year, when a group of higher officials from Kosovo participated in a training event organised by the E-Governance Academy in Tallinn.

An E-government conference will be held in Kosovo in May. The participants include Margus Püüa, Head of the Department of State Information Systems of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and Member of the Estonian Parliament Hannes Astok.
